Aluminum-PMMA Link
MIE320 Solid Mechanics II March 2015 Our final project in Solid Mechanics was to design a two-part link with the highest strength-weight ratio. The two original parts were 3" by 6" plates of Aluminum and PMMA acrylic, to be loaded with an Instron tensile tester. Using ANSYS, several designs were evaluated using an iterative process. The best design was then produced through waterjet cutting, and the two pieces bonded together with epoxy adhesive. |
